Insurance FAQs
Wise Mountain Medicine is currently in-network with PacificSource (commercial plans), MODA Health, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Starting Jan 1, 2026, we are no longer accepting Providence Health Insurance. Appointments on or after this date will not be covered as in-network services by Providence.
You don’t take my insurance. How can I still see providers at Wise Mountain Medicine?
Many patients with Providence, Cigna, United, Aetna, or other plans that include out-of-network benefits (such as certain PEBB, Medicare Advantage plans, or employer plans) may be eligible for partial reimbursement for acupuncture services. If this applies to you, we can provide a detailed receipt (called a superbill) that you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
If your plan does not include out-of-network benefits, services would be self-pay.
What is a superbill, and how does it work?
A superbill is a detailed receipt that you submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. While reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific plan, many patients find this process worthwhile.
Our team is happy to explain what information is included and how to submit a superbill.
What would my out-of-pocket cost be?
Our current time-of-service rate for follow-up acupuncture treatments is $125. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, Providence may reimburse a portion of this cost after you submit a superbill.
Rates are subject to change, and our staff can confirm current pricing.
Can I change my insurance plan?
Insurance enrollment rules vary depending on whether your plan is through the Marketplace, an employer, Medicare, or a public employee program.
If you are unsure whether changes are still possible for you, we recommend contacting your insurance company or HR department directly. We are also happy to help clarify general options and questions.
Why is Wise Mountain Medicine leaving the Providence network?
Providence recently made changes to how acupuncture claims are administered, including the use of a third-party administrator. These changes significantly reduced reimbursements and increased administrative complexity.
After months of review and discussion, we determined that remaining in-network under these conditions would not be sustainable for our clinic. This decision allows us to continue offering consistent, high-quality care to our patients.
When was this decision made?
We shared notice of a potential change in September 2025, while discussions with Providence were still ongoing. The decision to formally leave the network was finalized once it became clear that no workable alternatives would be offered.
Do you recommend another acupuncture clinic that is in-network with Providence?
We are not aware of which local clinics will remain in-network with Providence for 2026. If you are exploring other providers and would like help evaluating options, we are happy to offer guidance.
Who can I contact if I have questions?
Our front desk team is available to help answer questions and direct you to appropriate resources. You are welcome to call or email us, and we’ll do our best to support you.
